I had the opportunity last week to donate my time to photograph the annual golf tournament put on by the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD). The tournament was held at the Stonebridge Country Club in Goffstown, NH. The annual event was started by Kristen's Gift back in 2004. This fundraiser event will continue to benefit critical programs at CHaD, including the Kristen's Gift Endowment Fund which is a special fund for children fighting cancer at CHaD. I had a meeting with a wedding planner (Tiffany from Detailed Engagements) a few months ago. During our conversation, Tiffany asked if I would be interested in donating my time to photograph this great event. Little did Tiffany know that I would jump at the opportunity, not only because it is a good cause, but also because my wife works for the CHaD office in Dover, NH.
The day of the tournament arrived and we were blessed with amazing weather! It got a bit warm, but hey, after that long winter we just had, I didn't want to complain about being warm finally! Tiffany was my race car...I mean golf cart driver. Our first task of the day was to go around the course and take pictures of each group of golfers. Once we got all of the group pictures done, I handed over my memory card to a CHaD employee who went to purchase 4x6 prints of the images. The staff assembled the framed pictures of the golf groups in a frame that had the CHaD logo. Tiffany did a great job finding the perfect vendor for the customized frames.
Tiffany and I continued to drive around the golf course and take candid pictures of the golfers, the CHaD kids and Miss New Hampshire, who just won her crown about a month ago. When all of the teams had finished their 18 rounds of golf, they came back to the tent for lunch. The golfers were surprised to receive their framed picture as then entered the tent. We had a great lunch that was then followed by the live auction. Our auction emcees were Greg and Laura from Rock 101. The founder of Kristen's Gift gave a small speech as did each of the three CHaD kids who attended the event. The event finished with a brief awards ceremony where awards were given out to the top three teams as well as some individuals who won special awards for things like longest drive and closest to the cup.
I'd like to thank Tiffany again for getting me involved in this great event! A HUGE thank you goes out to Tiffany, all of the CHaD staff and Stonebridge staff for putting all of the details in place for a successful tournament and fundraiser!
